As this very special project draws to a close, it is wonderful to see residents beginning to move in and make The Custom House their home. TJDA have been proud to work alongside Mile Property Group on the transformation of The Custom House in Gravesend, breathing new life into buildings that are rich in history and character. The video really shows the care that has gone into the scheme, retaining and celebrating the building’s original architectural features, while introducing contemporary design and creating spaces ready for a new chapter. From the beautiful period detailing and distinctive windows to the carefully considered new elements, it’s a great example of how historic buildings can be sensitively restored and reimagined for the future. A real pleasure for the TJDA team to have played a part in bringing this landmark building back to life.

Great to be back on site at St Leonards-on-Sea, a development by Mile Property Group, to see how things are progressing. There’s been significant progress since our last visit. Groundworks and foundations are well advanced, the substantial retaining structures required across this challenging sloping site are taking shape, and we can now see the homes themselves beginning to emerge, with blockwork progressing on site. It’s always rewarding for the TJDA team to see the work move from drawings and technical detailing to construction, and even better to see the design beginning to become a reality. A selection of CGI views recently prepared for an exclusive countryside development for which we secured planning permission. The scheme brings together a collection of traditionally detailed homes, carefully composed within a mature, landscape-led setting to balance distinctive rural character with generous contemporary living. The soft, illustrative graphical approach for the images was chosen to evoke the scheme’s vernacular design and its sensitive relationship with the surrounding landscape.

It is always fantastic to get out on the water and even better when we can share the experience with friends, family, clients and industry colleagues. Successfully racing a sailing yacht is an incredibly multifaceted challenge. It requires a broad combination of technical knowledge, experience, coordination, communication and physical ability, all centred around a disciplined team in which collaboration lies at the very heart. It is also a remarkably inclusive sport. This year, the Team Assassin crew ranged in age from our helm, Peter Jackson, at 75, to Zac Viner and Gray Jackson at just 14. There are not many other team sports which enable people from such different generations to compete alongside one another at such a high level. Ramsgate Week also gives us the opportunity to introduce others to the sport. This year, we were delighted to welcome aboard guests from Waites Construction, Hollamby Estates, Alexander Environmental Systems, KAP Motor Group and Practical Car & Van Rental. Alongside the racing, our annual corporate hospitality event at the Royal Temple Yacht Club provided another excellent opportunity to bring clients, consultants and friends together, enjoy the atmosphere of the regatta and strengthen relationships away from the usual working environment. On the water, it was an exceptional week. Team Assassin secured multiple trophies before winning the overall full-week regatta title by a single point. We were also honoured to become the first ever winners of the Ivor Thomas Memorial Cup for IRC Class Overall. A brilliant week of competition, teamwork and hospitality. We are already looking forward to Ramsgate Week 2027!

We are delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for a further two-storey extension at West Lodge School in Sidcup. We are proud to have worked alongside the school since 1989, supporting its continued growth and development over more than three decades. During that time, we have successfully secured approval for a number of significant projects, including additional classrooms, a new kitchen, sports hall, sports pitch, and nursery facilities. This latest approval will provide larger classrooms on the first and second floors, together with a new access lift from the first to the second floor. Having been appointed to refurbish and adapt Fairlawn Care Home in Maidstone, we are delighted once again to be working with our longstanding clients Dhyani Care Limited, The works will involve the remodelling of the home which will provide enhanced facilities for the residents. This includes updating the bedroom layouts, the adding of additional wet rooms, plus a new lift to serve the first floor.
